2018 JDRF Walk Recap
Team Jamac and Team Juliet would like to take a moment to thank all of our generous supporters who found it in their heart to donate to the cause of supporting research for a cure for Type One Diabetes (T1D). We were fortunate and had good weather for the walk this past Sunday. Thanks to you, Team Juliet raised nearly $23,000 bringing the total raised over $65,000!! Jamac was proud to be a part of this and we’re very thankful for each and every contributor.
Jamac joined forces with one of our business colleagues in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) One Walk. Our colleague’s daughter Juliet is a Type One Diabetic and was diagnosed when she was only 6 years old. Back in 2016, we donated to Team Juliet and decided to walk for the cause as well. We had so much fun that we formed a corporate team in 2017. Our JDRF team – Jamac TJN (Team Juliet North) – was created to help support Team Juliet. Several of our own employees have personal connections to Diabetes. We are walking to create a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D) and also to support research to cure diabetes (including type 2).
Thanks to you, Team Juliet raised nearly $23,000 bringing the total raised over $65,000!!
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a serious and stressful disease to manage and can be deadly even under circumstances that seem like normal everyday life. Juliet’s blood sugar level must constantly be tested and injected insulin is necessary to keep things stable. Back in April of 2017, Juliet had a run of the mill stomach virus which caused her to quickly dehydrate and go into life threatening DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis). She spent 3 days in the hospital to recover. For families with diabetics—T1D causes a lot of worry and sleepless nights as things like colds and viruses can quickly lead to life and death situations.
Each year, JDRF One Walk brings together more than 900,000 people across the country to change the future for everyone living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). This fun, family–friendly event gives people with T1D—and their friends, family and co–workers—the opportunity to raise money for life-changing T1D research.
